Sue Smulski approaches every role — both at work and in her volunteer efforts — with warmth, inspiring leadership, and a heartfelt dedication to building community. She joined MVSB in November 2024 as Assistant Vice President and Branch & Business Development Manager, leading the Exeter office. In this role, she builds and nurtures relationships with customers and community members, supports branch employees and spearheads local community involvement initiatives.
Sue’s passion for helping animals is evident in her longstanding service with the New Hampshire SPCA. After five years on the board and finance committee, she was recently appointed Chair of the Board of Directors, following her tenure as Secretary. Her unwavering commitment to animal welfare was instilled in her at a young age.
“When I was just six years old, my dad took in and cared for an Irish Setter named Rusty who had been neglected by a neighbor. Watching him step up to help taught me the importance of a community that looks out for each other, even our companion animals. My dad’s compassion had a lasting impression on me, and I see that same spirit reflected in the NHSPCA’s mission and work to help animals in need.”
Sue adds, “I chose to serve with the NHSPCA because of its long history, outstanding reputation and dedicated leadership. The organization’s broad reach and its commitment to saving the lives of animals through rescue, rehabilitation and adoption truly set it apart. I’m inspired by how our team and donors work together to promote learning, prevent animal cruelty and advance the highest standards of animal welfare — making a real difference for pets and their families throughout New Hampshire.”
Each year, the NHSPCA cares for nearly 4,000 unwanted, neglected or abused animals, providing them with shelter, medical care and nutritious food. As an open admission, unlimited stay facility, the NHSPCA gives every animal the time and support needed to find a loving new home.
If you’re looking to open your heart to a new pet, visit the NHSPCA at 104 Portsmouth Avenue in Stratham or nhspca.org. The organization also welcomes volunteers and donations to help continue its mission.
