The Merrimack Returns as Sponsor of the 13th Annual Black Ice Pond Hockey Championship

Merrimack County Savings Bank (The Merrimack) is proud to support the 1883 Black Ice Pond Hockey Championship. The three-day tournament at White Park in Concord has been moved indoors for the second year in a row due to the unusually warm weather.

“Support from sponsors, like The Merrimack, has helped make Black Ice a special event, no matter the weather conditions,” Chris Brown, Black Pond Ice Hockey Tournament Board and Member of the Skate House Committee. “We are grateful for The Merrimack’s steadfast support and look forward to another great event!”

This year, games will be held at the Tri-Town Ice Arena in Hooksett the weekend of March 22nd – 24th. The arena has two sheets of ice to accommodate more teams for the adult tournaments.  It also has concessions, areas for kids entertainment and plenty of great viewing space for the pond hockey competition.

Even though the weather didn’t cooperate, the Black Ice Tournament pays tribute to the sport’s historic roots, all while bringing the community together.” said Linda Lorden, President of The Merrimack.

The 1883 Black Ice Hockey Association is a non-profit organization chartered in New Hampshire in 2010 to promote and support pond hockey, ice skating opportunities, recreational activities, and other worthy causes in the Concord community while honoring the city’s rich hockey heritage. Over the years, the Association has donated more than $650,000 toward projects and causes that align with the organization’s mission. For more information, visit blackicepondhockey.com.
