Merrimack County Savings Bank (The Merrimack) supports Friends of the Merrimack River Greenway Trail with a $25,000 pledge toward its Terrill Park Boardwalk project. Funded through the Community Development Finance Authority, the contribution will help close a critical gap in the trail between Loudon Road and Manchester Street, creating a continuous 1.5-mile off-road path.
“Supporting this effort means investing in a resource that encourages healthier lifestyles and fosters social connections,” said Linda Lorden, President of The Merrimack. “The Merrimack River Greenway Trail will help bring neighbors together and connect communities across the region.”
The trail is available year-round, serving as both a reliable transportation route and a recreational space for people of all ages. Designed with safety and accessibility in mind, it improves pedestrian and bicycle connections to neighborhoods, parks and activity centers.
“We are deeply grateful to The Merrimack, its community leadership and generous investment in the Terrill Park Boardwalk,” said Dick Lemieux, President of Friends of the Merrimack River Greenway Trail. “Leveraged with federal transportation funding, this investment will help build $100,000 of the boardwalk.”
The Friends of the Merrimack River Greenway Trail is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 to help create a continuous, paved, multi-use trail along the Merrimack River in Concord, New Hampshire. CDFA tax credits allow businesses to fund qualifying economic or community development projects in exchange for a tax credit that can be applied against state business tax payments. The tax credits are administered by the New Hampshire CDFA. Any business with operations in New Hampshire that contributes to a CDFA tax credit project receives a New Hampshire state tax credit worth 75 percent of their contribution. The credit can be used over a period of five years to reduce the business’ state tax liability (business profits, business enterprise, or insurance premium taxes). The tax credit program allows New Hampshire businesses to use their state tax dollars to support local projects that they care about. CDFA reviews many project applications each year, and awards tax credits to those they determine are feasible and will make the biggest impact on economic development in the state.
