Merrimack County Savings Bank (The Merrimack) is supporting three critical food programs in Central New Hampshire with $10,000 in contributions. The Capital Region Food Program and Meals on Wheels of Belknap-Merrimack Counties each received a $2,500 donation and $5,000 was awarded to the New Hampshire Food Bank.
“We recognize the hardships affecting our communities and believe no one should have to go hungry trying to make ends meet,” said Linda Lorden, President of The Merrimack. “These organizations provide nutritious food and meals to individuals and families in need.”
According to the New Hampshire Food Bank, 1 in every 10 adults, and 1 in every 7 children in the Granite State face food insecurity. Last year, the New Hampshire Food Bank distributed more than 16.3 million pounds of food to people in need through more than 400 non-profit registered agencies.
The Capital Region Food Program is a private, not-for-profit, all volunteer organization that services 18 communities in the Greater Concord Area. They purchase and distribute about 110 tons of food annually at no cost to participating agencies and recipients.
Meals on Wheels of Belknap-Merrimack Counties provides home-delivered meal services to older adults and adults with disabilities. The program also connects people to critical programs and support services in the community.
