New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) recently awarded tax credits to Hope on Haven Hill, a nonprofit that supports the recovery and wellbeing of pregnant and parenting women with substance use disorder and their children by ensuring access to quality treatment and services. The fundraising effort will support the continued construction and expansion of the organization’s Center for Hope and Wellness in Rochester. MVSB is proud to purchase $5,000 in tax credits to support the project.
“Since opening doors to the Hope and Wellness Center in 2023, we have been able to help more than 175 women and children in that year alone,” said Kerry Norton, Hope on Haven Hill Executive Director. “This additional fundraising will help with continued construction to significantly expand our programming, create a community convening space and support mothers in recovery. We are thankful for the financial support we have received from local businesses like MVSB.”
“The work that Kerry and her team do for women and children here is so vitally important and life-changing – giving a fresh start to those who need a helping hand,” said Jolene Whitehead, MVSB Branch & Business Development Officer in Rochester. “We are proud to lend our support to their incredible efforts.”
Hope on Haven Hill provides gender-responsive residential, outpatient and recovery support substance use disorder services for pregnant, post-partum and parenting women in New Hampshire. CDFA tax credits allow businesses to fund qualifying economic or community development projects in exchange for a tax credit that can be applied against state business tax payments. The tax credits are administered by the New Hampshire CDFA. Any business with operations in New Hampshire that contributes to a CDFA tax credit project receives a New Hampshire state tax credit worth 75 percent of their contribution. The credit can be used over a period of five years to reduce the business’ state tax liability (business profits, business enterprise, or insurance premium taxes). The tax credit program allows New Hampshire businesses to use their state tax dollars to support local projects that they care about. CDFA reviews many project applications each year, and awards tax credits to those they determine are feasible and will make the biggest impact on economic development in the state.
